Chopper (Battle Axe)

An ambitious foray into metalwork, I leaned into my passion for the medium and took inspiration from medieval double sided battle axes. Loosely inspired by Viking and Celtic imagery, I used a cheaper steel for the main body, cutting the shape primarily with an angle grinder and refining with a file. Tool steel was then welded onto the edges for performance. The blade is full tang, and the handle is primarily pine with rivets wrapped in faux leather, with accent pieces laboriously hand sanded and shaped from a dense tropical wood.
